PURPOSE OF THE RELIEF FUND
To support people in need across NSW and the ACT.
OPERATION OF THE RELIEF FUND
Relief Grants are approved based on applications for assistance received from the ministers/pastors of Baptist Churches throughout NSW and the ACT. The beneficiary of a Relief Grant may be anyone in genuine need within the local community, regardless of whether or not they are associated with a Baptist Church.
Relief Grants are usually paid through the local church, which provides the following benefits:
- ensures that the monies provided actually go to the purpose stated in the application.
- facilitates ongoing contact between the church and the relief beneficiary, acknowledging that money is only one aspect of the ongoing support normally required by a relief beneficiary.
- supports local business as goods are purchased in the local area, rather than being purchased elsewhere and transported.
TYPES OF ASSISTANCE PROVIDED BY THE RELIEF FUND
Listed below are examples of the purposes for which Relief Grants have been approved in the past.
